Scott Hart selected as Super Lawyer for the 17th year, again listed as one of NC’s top 100 attorneys, and elected President of ABOTA chapter

For the 17^th consecutive year, Sumrell Sugg Managing Partner Scott Hart has been selected as a Super Lawyer in North Carolina.  And, for the fourth year in a row, has also been named by Super Lawyers as one of the Top 100 attorneys in North Carolina.  In addition, Scott was recently elected as President of the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Super Lawyers is a highly respected rating service by Thomson Reuters and recognizes top attorneys across more than 70 practice areas based on a rigorous selection process.  This includes peer nominations, independent research, and evaluations by a blue-ribbon panel of attorneys.  

The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) founded in 1958, is an organization of experienced trial lawyers and judges committed to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial as provided by the Seventh Amendment of the Constitution.   ABOTA consists of more than 7,300 lawyers—equally balanced between plaintiff and defense—and judge spread among its 94 chapters in all 50 states.  It is an invitation-only organization.  The Eastern North Carolina chapter contains lawyers from Raleigh to the North Carolina coast.

Scott has been practicing with Sumrell Sugg since 1992.  His statewide practice focuses exclusively on mediation.  In addition to serving with ABOTA, Scott’s service to the legal profession includes his time as President of the Craven County Bar Association.  He is currently serving his third consecutive three-year term on the North Carolina State Bar Council, where he also serves as Chair of the Grievance Committee.
