Scott Hart Receives J. Robert Elster Award for Professional Excellence

Sumrell Sugg, P.A. is proud to announce that our Managing Partner, Scott C. Hart, has been awarded the J. Robert Elster Award for Professional Excellence by the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys at its annual meeting in Asheville this month.

The J. Robert Elster Award recognizes attorneys who demonstrate exceptional professional achievement, commitment to the legal profession, and dedication to the highest standards of advocacy and service. This honor reflects Scott’s decades of leadership, professionalism, and contributions to the practice of law in North Carolina.

Scott has practiced law in North Carolina since 1992 and has represented clients in state and federal courts across the state. A seasoned litigator, certified mediator, and certified arbitrator, Scott has built a reputation for helping parties resolve complex disputes through thoughtful advocacy and practical solutions, both before litigation begins and throughout the litigation process.

Beyond his legal practice, Scott has dedicated significant time to serving the profession. He currently serves as District Bar Councilor and Chair of the Grievance Committee for the North Carolina State Bar. He is the current President of the Eastern NC chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and a member the Eastern North Carolina Inn of Court.  He previously served as President of the Craven County Bar Association.

Scott’s professional accomplishments have been widely recognized. He holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been selected for North Carolina Super Lawyers each year since 2010.
