Sumrell Sugg, P.A. is proud to announce that Frederick H. “Derrick” Bailey, III, a seasoned attorney in the firm’s litigation and government law practice, has been appointed to serve as Chair of the Government Practice Group for the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys (NCADA). The NCADA is a statewide professional organization that provides civil defense attorneys with educational resources, networking opportunities, and forums for collaboration to enhance legal knowledge and practice throughout North Carolina.
In his new role as Chair of the Government Practice Group, Derrick will help lead a community of defense attorneys whose practices include representing state and local government entities and their employees in tort liability and related civil defense matters. The Government Practice Group is one of several substantive practice groups within the NCADA that offers members opportunities for professional development, continuing legal education, and peer exchange in specialized areas of civil defense law.
Derrick brings extensive experience in government and civil litigation to this leadership position. Licensed to practice law in North Carolina since 2007, he represents public entities and officials in a wide range of matters including civil litigation, employment law, appellate work, mediation, and insurance defense. He has litigated complex cases in both state and federal courts and presented legal topics of significance to defense practitioners.
