Sumrell Sugg attorneys kicked off 2024 with three presentations on a variety of litigation-related topics.
On January 18, associate attorney, Ryan Eubanks moderated the N.C. Association of Defense Attorney’s (“NCADA”) Practice Pointers Series on “Insights from In-House Counsel.” That session brought together a group of young, insurance defense attorneys to learn about the practicalities of representing institutional clients in litigation. Ryan currently serves as the Vice-Chair for NCADA’s Young Lawyers Committee.
On January 26, managing Partner, Scott Hart, presented a mock first-party mediation for the N.C. Bar Association’s Insurance Law in Practice 2024 CLE event in Cary, N.C. Scott is certified mediator and arbitrator and is a member of the North Carolina Academy of Superior Court Mediation, a Chapter of the National Academy Distinguished Neutrals.
Finally, on January 31, associates, Derrick Bailey and Trey Ferguson, presented on “Fruit of their own labor” claims under the state constitution for the NCADA’s Shop Talk with Government Lawyers series. The talk brought together litigators and in-house government attorneys to talk about a rapidly developing area of the public employment law. Derrick and Trey are both members of the NCADA’s government liability steering committee.
