Scott Hart Named Managing Partner

Sumrell Sugg Attorneys at Law is pleased to announce that Scott Hart has been named Managing Partner of the firm. Scott has spent his entire legal career with Sumrell Sugg, starting as a summer intern in 1991. He became an associate attorney in 1992 and has been a partner since 1997.


Throughout the years, Scott has been a very active member of the legal community, having served as President of the Craven County Bar Association, as a founding member of the Young Lawyers’ Division of the NC Academy of Trial Lawyers (now Advocates for Justice), and as a member of the Board of Directors of the NC Association of Defense Attorneys. He is a representative of District 4 as a Bar Councilor for the NC State Bar and is a member of the Dispute Resolution Section Council of the NC Bar Association.


He has held an AV preeminent peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 2013, and has been selected to NC Super Lawyers each year since 2010. He has handled lawsuits, arbitrations and mediations throughout the state and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Eastern NC Inn of Court and the National Association of Distinguished Neutrals.
